JERRY CANTRELL: I Miss ALICE IN CHAINS

Former ALICE IN CHAINS guitarist Jerry Cantrell has recently indicated that his forthcoming second solo album, entitled Degradation Trip, sounds unlike any other record I have ever done. It's probably one of the heaviest records I have put out including ALICE. Scheduled for an early summer release, Degradation Trip is the follow-up to 1998's Boggy Depot, which the guitarist has often referred to a new beginning for him. "That was the beginning of wherever I'm at now, and I don't even know where that is, Cantrell stated. My whole experience before that was ALICE, so I'm very proud of all the things we did with ALICE and of course I miss it. But things change and life goes on. I've been moving on since then."

Recorded with the help of friends and musicians, Robert Trujillo (i.e. SUICIDAL TENDENCIES, OZZY OSBOURNE) and Mike Bordin (i.e. FAITH NO MORE, OZZY OSBOURNE),Degradation Trip was produced by Jerry and Jeff Tomei (i.e. SMASHING PUMPKINS, MATCHBOX TWENTY, SOUL ASYLUM, COLLECTIVE SOUL) and was the last record to be recorded in the "haunted" studios of A&M in Los Angeles, CA.

"Jerry's new material picks up right where ALICE IN CHAINS left off. This is the style of music he was born to write and play and the sound that the fans have been craving from him. The new material sounds fresh yet instantly familiar," Roadrunner Records VP of A&R Monte Conner told said. "It's not every day that you get to work with a musician and songwriter of Jerry's caliber. He has written some of my favorite songs modern classics that people will still be listening to 30 years from now. How many musicians can you say that about these days?"

Jerry will be performing at the annual South By Southwest (SXSW) music conference in Austin, Texas on March 16th, at Stubb's BBQ.
